N.Y. Regulation Update
Update: NEW REGULATIONS- have you thought about the new workplace regulations that went into effect this year? For example, on April 12, 2011, the “New York Wage Theft Prevention Act” became effective requiring employers to provide written notice within ten (10) days of hiring an employee and by February 1 of each following year of that employee’s (1) rate of pay; (2) overtime rate; (3) allowances; (4) deductions; (5) exempt or non exempt status; (6) regular payday; (7) name of employer; (8) employer doing business names; and (9) phone number of the employer . If you fail to do this – be prepared for liquidated damages up to 100% or more of wages owed, pre-judgment interest, attorneys fees to the employee’s lawyer and potential personal and criminal liability.
